Driving thousands of kilometres across Spain and France gives you quite a bit of data to look at. Charging sessions, energy consumption, charging costs, battery performance — pretty much all the small details that normally disappear into everyday driving.

What we tend to forget

One thing I keep noticing is that people remember where they charged, but not necessarily what it cost, or even how often they stopped. And that is completely normal. Most of us simply charge when needed and continue the journey.

Only later, when you actually want to look something up, do you realise how useful it would be to have all of it available in one place.

People remember the place they charged — rarely the price, and almost never how often.

The trip from both sides

What made this drive interesting was seeing it from two angles at once: behind the wheel, and afterwards through the telemetry. The same kilometres, retold as a story of sessions, kilowatt-hours, and euros. Patterns appear that you simply cannot feel from the driver's seat:

  • Which stops were genuinely fast, and which only felt fast.
  • How much the cost per kWh swung between networks and countries.
  • How the battery behaved on long motorway stretches versus city crawl.

Why one place matters

A long road trip is exactly the moment a single, consolidated history earns its keep. Once your vehicle is connected, every session lands in the same record, ready to read later.

After selecting your vehicle brand, you'll connect your Tesla account so we can pull your vehicle data.

How it works

  1. Click "Connect to Tesla" on the connection screen
  2. You'll be redirected to Tesla's official login page (auth.tesla.com)
  3. Sign in with your Tesla account credentials
  4. Review and approve the requested data permissions
  5. Tesla redirects you back to Car Pulse Tracker
  6. Select which vehicles you want reports for
  7. Choose your plan and complete payment
  8. Your reports generate automatically

What happens behind the scenes

Car Pulse Tracker is a registered Tesla Fleet API partner. When you approve the connection:

  1. Tesla issues a one-time authorization code
  2. Our server exchanges that code for an access token via Tesla's secure token endpoint
  3. We use the token to query Tesla's Fleet API for your vehicle data
  4. We pull data from multiple Tesla endpoints in parallel (vehicle state, charging history, warranty, alerts, etc.)
  5. Your report is assembled from the raw Tesla data and rendered on screen
  6. The access token is kept for the duration of your session, up to 60 minutes, and then automatically deleted

What permissions do we request?

We request read-only access to:

  • Vehicle device data (battery, sensors, configuration, tire pressure)
  • Charging history and invoices
  • Vehicle specifications (SoH, capacity, trim)

We do not request any control permissions. We cannot lock, unlock, start, honk, flash lights, or operate your vehicle in any way.

Is it safe?

Yes. This uses Tesla's official OAuth 2.0 authorization framework, the same secure method used by all authorized Tesla third-party applications. Your Tesla username and password are entered only on Tesla's own website. We never see them. The access token is automatically deleted when your session expires.
